Metal-free visible-light-enabled vicinal trifluoromethyl dithiolation of unactivated alkenes

چکیده
The difunctionalization of alkenes involving a trifluoromethylthio group (SCF 3 ) for the conversion versatile and readily available olefins into structurally more complex molecules has been successfully studied. However, disproportionate dithiolation is unknown. Herein, transition-metal-free protocol presented vicinal trifluoromethylthio–thiolation unactivated via radical process under mild conditions with broad substrate scope excellent tolerance.

A mild and efficient methodology for the bromination of phenols and alkenes has been developed utilizing visible light-induced photoredox catalysis. The bromine was generated in situ from the oxidation of Br(-) by Ru(bpy)3 (3+), both of which resulted from the oxidative quenching process.

Harnessing visible light as the driving force for chemical transformations generally offers a more environmentally friendly alternative compared with classical synthetic methodology. The transition metal-based photocatalysts commonly employed in photoredox catalysis absorb efficiently in the visible spectrum, unlike most organic substrates, allowing for orthogonal excitation. The subsequent exc...

A transition-metal-free coupling protocol between various alkenes and non-activated alkyl iodides has been developed by using photoenergy in water for the first time. Under UV irradiation and basic aqueous conditions, various alkenes efficiently couple with a wide range of non-activated alkyl iodides. A tentative mechanism, which involves an atom transfer radical addition process, for the coupl...
